Warum brauchen wir einen Instrumenten-Umriss?

Die verschiedenen Modelle von Viola, Viola d'amore oder Gambe unterscheiden sich nicht nur in der Größe der Instrumente sondern auch in der Bauform und sind manchmal sogar asymmetrisch.

Die Inneneinrichtung für die jeweiligen Etuis fertigen wir nach diesem Umriss des Instrumentes. Je genauer die Umrisszeichnung ist, desto perfekter wird die Passform für das Instrument im Etui und letztendlich auch der Schutz für das Instrument.

Bei Kofferetui für Viola oder Viola d'amore werden die Zubehörfächer um die Schnecke, Teile des Halses bzw. Wirbelkasten herum gebaut, um so genauer die Zeichnung (nicht nur vom Korpus sondern auch mit Hals und Schnecke), desto besser ist die Aufteilung des Platzes für die Zubehörfächer.

Insbesondere auch für Doppeletui Violine und Viola ist eine Umriss-Zeichnung der Viola unverzichtbar. Gerade der Platz im Doppeletui ist bereits sehr begrenzt und kann nur so am besten ausgenutzt werden.

Für Viola d'amore und Gambe benötigen wir auch noch eine Seitenansicht, um so die Polsterung des Halses am Halsansatz optimal gestalten zu können.

Wie fertige ich einen Umriss an?

Das Instrument eben auf einen großen Papierbogen legen und so gut als möglich mit einem Bleistift das Instrument vollständig umzeichnen - dabei den Stift nach Möglichkeit senkrecht halten.

Lassen Sie sich nicht von der Wölbung des Bodens stören - Instrument gut festhalten, so dass es nicht verrutschen kann.

Zusätzlich können Sie noch Maßangaben wie beispielsweise Gesamtlänge, Breite Korpus unten, Breite Korpus oben mit angeben.

Wie messe ich die Steghöhe?

Wichtig ist auch die Information über die Steghöhe des Instrumentes - normalerweise haben unsere Etuis eine ausreichende Innenhöhe, aber es gibt immer wieder Instrumente, die einen höheren Steg haben und deshalb brauchen wir auch dieses Maß.

Um dieses Maß zu ermitteln, lassen Sie das Instrument eben auf dem Papier liegen, legen ein Lineal waagerecht über den Steg und lesen an einem 2. senkrecht gehaltenen Lineal die Höhe ab.

Why do we need the instrument outline?

The various models of violas, violas d'amore, and violas d'gamba do not only differ in size, but also in their design, and sometimes they are even unsymmetrical.

We manufacture the interior of the respective cases according to the instrument's outline. The more exact this outline drawing, the more perfect will the fit of the case and eventually the protection for the instrument be.

In hard-shell cases for violas or violas d'amore, the accessory compartments are built around the scroll, parts of the neck and the peg box. The more exact the drawing (nor only the corpus, but also including neck and scroll), the better will the room for the accessory compartment be utilized.

For the violin and viola double cases in particular, an outline of the instrument is indispensable, as the room in the double cases is already very limited and this is the only possibility to fully utilize it.

For the viola d'amore and the viola d'gamba, we need in addition a lateral outline drawing, to be able to optimally design the padding of the neck at the base of the neck.

How do I make the outline drawing?

Place the instrument flat on a large sheet of paper and follow the instrument's complete outline as good as possible - hold the pen as perpendicular as possible.

Do not let the bottom curvature disturb you - hold the instrument thigt so that it cannot slip.

You can additionally specify dimensions as e.g. the total length, the top width of the corpus, and the bottom width of the corpus.

How do you measure the bridge height?

It is also important that you inform us about the height of the instrument's bridge - our cases are usually of sufficient internal height, but there are instruments with a higher bridge, and that is why we need this dimension too.

To determine this height, leave the instrument an the sheet of paper, place a rule horizontally across the bridge and read the height from a second ruler held perpendicular.
